What Kacha is

Snap a receipt. Kacha does the rest.

“Kacha” is Swahili for take a picture. That one photo is read, checked and put to work for whoever needs it.

  1. Snap it

Photograph any receipt, or scan the QR code printed on it. Long receipts can be shot in sections.

  2. We read it

Kacha picks out the merchant, the date, every item and the total — no typing.

  3. We check it

Every receipt is verified as genuine and checked against what you’ve already scanned, so duplicates never slip through.

  4. It goes to work

Points for a shopper, an approved expense for a business, a filing-ready line for an accountant, anonymous purchase data for a brand.

Check Price in the Kacha app: a product with its typical price, the range most people pay and how many receipts it comes from.

For shoppers

Scan it. Earn it. Spend smarter.

Scanning takes seconds. Kacha reads and files every receipt, pays you in Kacha Points, and shows you what things should cost.

  • Points for every valid scan

Each valid receipt earns Kacha Points, up to a daily limit. The app always shows what a scan earned and why.

  • Check Price

See the typical price of a product near you, the range most people pay, and how it has moved over the year, all from real receipts.

  • Streaks

Scan on consecutive days to build a streak and earn a bonus every seventh day. A freeze covers a day you miss.

  • Brand missions

Brands you already buy set missions, like trying a product or buying it again. Scan the receipt and the points are yours.

  • Use points for airtime

Points can go toward airtime sent straight to your phone, where it is available.

  • Know where it goes

Set a monthly budget and watch your spending by category, with M-Pesa payments captured alongside receipts.

Trust

Your receipts, handled with care.

A receipt says a lot about a person. Kacha is built so it only ever does the job you scanned it for.

  • Business stays separate

A business’s receipts never count towards shopper points, price checks or what manufacturers see. Work and personal accounts are separate logins.

  • Brands see patterns, not people

Suppliers and manufacturers see purchases added up across shoppers. They never see names, phone numbers or accounts.

  • Checked, not trusted blindly

Receipts are verified for authenticity, and duplicate or suspicious scans are caught before points are paid.

  • You can leave

Delete your account from inside the app whenever you like. Read our privacy policy for exactly what that removes.

Questions

Good to know

Do I need to be a business to use Kacha?
No. The app is for anyone who shops. Businesses, accountants and suppliers use Kacha through their own accounts, built for their work.
Which receipts work?
Any printed or digital receipt you can photograph. Receipts with a KRA eTIMS QR code or invoice number are also checked against KRA and show as verified.
How do points work?
Each valid receipt earns points, up to a daily limit, with a bonus for keeping a streak and extra points for completing a brand’s mission. The app always shows exactly what a scan earned and why.
What is a streak?
Scan a receipt on consecutive days to build one. Every seventh day earns a bonus, and a freeze covers a day you miss, up to two at a time.
What is Check Price?
It shows the typical price of a product around you, the range most people pay, and a year of price movement, built from receipts shoppers have scanned. It is a guide, not a guarantee, and says how recent its data is.
Can I use my personal Kacha account for my business?
Business accounts are separate, with their own login — so personal receipts and points never mix with the company’s books. Create the business account with a work email.
Where does Kacha work?
Kacha is built for East Africa and works with the fiscal receipts and mobile-money services used in each market. Features such as tax-authority receipt checks and mobile-money capture are enabled market by market.
Who can see my receipts?
You do. Suppliers only ever see aggregated purchases with no personal details, and a business’s receipts are visible only to that business and the accountant it chooses to link.
